What is the Summer Reading Slide?
The long summer break without reading books and listening to stories can make a big difference to your reading. This is known as the summer reading slide. You need to read regularly during the break, so that you don’t fall behind in your reading. The good news is that if you read at least four books over the summer this maintains or even increase your reading skills.
There is a contract to go home that you and your child/children need to sign before the books can be issued. This is a promise to look after the books and return by the end of the first week of Term One 2026. Copies of the contract will be available in class, the library, attached to the newsletter or can be downloaded from the library page on the school webpage.
